Shah Rukh Khan's colleague and long-time friend Juhi Chawla signed a surety bond of 0.1 million Indian rupees in Mumbai session court for the bail of Aryan Khan on Friday, reported Times of India.

A day ago the Bombay High Court granted bail to Aryan and two other accused in a drug case in which he was arrested along with six other people on October 3.

According to the report, they were asked not to leave Mumbai or India without the permission of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) investigating officer.

In the beginning of the month India’s NCB raided a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast and said it seized drugs. Aryan and others are accused of alleged conspiracy, possession, consumption, purchase and trafficking of drugs under a 1985 law.

According to Aryan's lawyer, they were charged with bailable offences but Aryan was denied post-arrest bail twice by the session court.

Aryan’s lawyer told the court that no drugs were found on his possession and there was no evidence that Aryan had consumed any drugs.

The young star's case garnered a lot of attention and people were wondering if Shah Rukh’s Muslim identity had anything to do with the way the case was being handled.

A prominent Indian journalist Rana Ayyub reporting on the issue wrote about two high-profile arrests. One was Aryan and the other was Ashish Mishra. Aryan’s father is a “Muslim global icon” while Ashish’s father is Ajay Mishra, Junior Home Minister in Modi’s government.

She wrote that Shahrukh has repeatedly spoken against religious intolerance and discrimination in India. He has also been accused of being a “terrorist” for talking about this.

In contrast, Ashish was arrested several days after the October 3 incident in which he reportedly “mowed down protesting farmers.” Four farmers died in the incident.

Ayyub says Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message to Shah Rukh is clear: “Fall in line.”

The Bombay High Court granted bail to Aryan and he was scheduled to get release on Friday (today).
