COVID-19: Pakistan reports 144 deaths, 10.90% positivity rate in 24 hours
Pakistan on Friday has reported 5,870 new cases and 144 COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours as the country struggles with the third wave of coronavirus.
According to statistics shared by National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), the country's nerve center for unified efforts against coronavirus, 53,818 coronavirus tests were taken, 5,870 came out positive, and 144 deaths were reported countrywide in the last 24 hours.
There are currently 4,652 critical patients of COVID-19 admitted at different hospitals in the country. And the reported positivity rate is 10.90%.
With these latest statistics, the country's total number of confirmed active cases stands at 84,976. Pakistan has so far recorded 784,108 confirmed cases, 16,842 deaths, and a total of 682,290 recoveries from the novel disease.
Most active cases are reported in Punjab (44,638) followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (14,116), and Islamabad (13,013). There are currently 9,697, 2,280, 1,103, and 129 active cases in Sindh, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Balochistan, and Gilgit Baltistan respectively.
