COVID-19: Positivity ratio jumps to 9.4% as Pakistan reports 3,876 new cases in 24 hours
Pakistan on Saturday has reported 3,876 new cases and 42 COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours.
According to statistics shared by National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), the country's nerve center for unified efforts against coronavirus, 40,946 coronavirus tests were taken, 3,876 new confirmed cases were registered, and 42 deaths were reported countrywide in the last 24 hours.
There are currently 29,576 active cases and 2,122 critical patients of COVID-19 admitted at different hospitals in the country.
With these latest statistics, the country's total number of confirmed cases stands at 623,135. Pakistan has so far recorded 13,799 coronavirus-related deaths, and a total of 579,760 patients have recovered from the novel disease.
As per the provincial breakdown of active cases, Punjab currently has 13,878 active cases, Sindh 4,862, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa 4,590, Balochistan 184, Gilgit Baltistan 8, Islamabad 5,143, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir has 911 active cases of COVID-19.
Federal capital reports a positivity rate of 12.5%:
Islamabad, on Saturday, reported a positivity rate of 12.5% after 747 new cases were diagnosed against 5958 tests, Zaeem Zia, District Health Officer Islamabad, shared on Twitter.
"WARNING: We have 747 cases against 5958 tests run in the federal capital positivity is 12.5%. In the last few days, the trajectory is skyrocketing. You shouldn't panic, follow all the SoP's and Advisory issued by this office, don't leave homes unnecessarily."
PM Imran Khan tests positive for COVID-19:
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SPAM) on National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination Dr Faisal Sultan on Saturday share that Prime Minister Imran Khan has tested positive for COVID-19.
Dr Sultan added that the prime minister has isolated himself at home after the test report.
"PM Imran Khan has tested positive for Covid-19 and is self-isolating at home"
