Pakistan on Tuesday has reported 958 new cases and 47 COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours. This is the first time that the country's reported confirmed cases for a single day are less than 1000 ever since the second wave of coronavirus started.

According to statistics shared by National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), the country's nerve center for unified efforts against coronavirus, 31,905 coronavirus tests were taken, 958 new confirmed cases were registered, and 47 deaths were reported countrywide in the last 24 hours.

There are currently 1,648 critical patients of COVID-19 admitted at different hospitals in the country.

With these latest statistics, the country's total number of confirmed cases stands at 564,824. Pakistan has so far recorded 12,380 coronavirus-related deaths, and a total of 527,061 patients have recovered from the novel disease.

The country has so far conducted 8498022 coronavirus tests countrywide.

Pakistan opens COVID- 19 vaccine registration for senior citizens:

The Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Monday announced that the registration portal is now open for citizens of age 65 and above to enroll for vaccination against coronavirus.

Taking to Twitter, the federal minister said:

"Pleased to announce that registration for getting the covid vaccine is now open for all citizens 65 and above. Just write down ur CNIC number and send a message on 1166. Inshallah vaccinations for this age group will start in March."
