UAE Launches online Wedding service amid virus Control

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has launched an online wedding service for couples wishing to get married despite the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the justice ministry, citizens and residents can select a date for their online marriage ceremonies. Couples can get married online through a video link with a cleric after their paperwork is submitted and approved online.

According to the procedure, a marriage certificate is relayed to a specialized court for making it valid. After that, a cleric will confirm the identity of the couple and witnesses.

After the entire process, the couple will get confirmation text message about the validation of their marriage certificate.

The digital wedding service aims to protect public health and facilitate access to legal procedures "under the current circumstances by depending on the smart justice system," the official UAE news agency WAM said.

The UAE has so far reported 3,736 cases of the coronavirus and 20 virus-related deaths. The outbreak has prompted the Gulf country to offer many public services online.
