-Daily Mail -Daily Mail

However, have you ever thought what really happens when flies touch food ? Despite knowing this fact that they carry an immense amount of germs ?

Also, Thomas J. Daniels, PhD, associate research scientist and director of Fordham University’s Vector Ecology Lab says,"These flies carries at least 100 different pathogens houseflies can carry, like bacteria, viruses, and parasite eggs." Moreover, these flies spread those germs and bacteria through different ways as they are usually stick to the hair of their legs. And, flies leave few of them in most cases. Dr. Daniel further states,"So we’re potentially at risk even from a fly landing on food, though the amount of pathogen transmitted is likely to be small."

Furthermore, you will be disgust after learning that flies don't just leave germs but they vomit on your food too. Yes, it is gross but true. Its vomit is filled with germs from the last meal it took. It is also said the bacteria inside a fly lives longer than the feet ones. So, when a fly lands on your food it might vomit and leave bacteria from its feet and these two kind of germs create some recipe for disease.

Plus, board-certified infectious diseases specialist Brent W. Laartz, MD says,"Scientists know flies can spread E. coli, salmonella, Hepatitis A, and rotavirus", adding,"There’s also Shigella—a group of bacteria that can cause diarrhea, fever, and stomach pain—which is particularly concerning because it doesn’t take much for the bacteria to make you sick."

Lastly, there is always a solution to problems. To keep flies away from your food, it is essential to wash food items you buy from markets carefully. Then, keep your kitchen area clean and pay extra attention to your dine place. Also, keep your meals covered until you eat and make it a habit. This way, there would be less chances for fly to land on food items.
