Karachi peace pays dividends: Naveed Mukhtar made new ISI chief

Pakistan Army on Sunday made significant postings and transfers after the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa assumed office less than two weeks ago.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement announced that DG Rangers Sindh Lieutenant-General Bilal Akbar has been appointed Chief of General Staff (CGS) while Karachi Corps Commander Lieutenant-General Naveed Mukhtar made new Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar, presently serving as DG ISI, has been appointed President of National Defence University (NDU) Lieutenant- General Nazir Butt, currently President NDU, has been appointed Corps Commander Peshawar (11 Corps).

Lieutenant-General Hidayat ur Rehman, currently serving as Corps Commander Peshawar, has been appointed Inspector General (IG) Training and Evaluation (IGT&E) at GHQ.

Lieutenant-General Asim Salim Bajwa, presently serving as Director General (DG) ISPR, has been appointed Inspector General Arms (IG Arms) at GHQ. He was posted DG ISPR in June 2012 and promoted to Lieutenant General in Sept 2015.

Newly promoted Lieutenant-General Hamayun Aziz has been appointed Inspector General C&IT at GHQ, while Lieutenant-General Qazi Ikram has been appointed Chief of Logistics Staff at GHQ. He was also among those promoted recently.

Newly promoted Lieutenant-General Sher Afgun has been posted 31 Corps Commander (Bahawalpur). Lieutenant-General Muhammad Afzal will continue as DG FWO. He was also recently promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General Newly promoted Lieutenant-General Naeem Ashraf has been appointed Chairman Heavy Industries Taxila(HIT).
