Misbah to complete 'half century' of test matches as captain

CHRISTCHURCH: Debuting 15 years ago with the team, Misbah ul Haq will complete 50 test matches as captain against New Zealand on Thursday, Aaj News reported.

Owning the record of World’s Fastest Half Century in a test match, scoring half century on just 21 balls, Haq sets a milestone of playing fifty test matches as Pakistan’s test cricket captain.

Under Misbah’s captaincy Pakistan won 24 test matches, lost 14, while 11 were tied. He has the triumph ratio of more than 50 percent.

Pakistan was ranked sixth when Misbah was handed over captaincy in 2010. Pakistan cricket team also faced allegation of match fixing. For the first time, Pakistan ranked 1st in test cricket with Misbah as its captain.

Misbah is the first Asian captain to have won ten test series. In his six years of captaincy, Misbah played 49 test matches, with the average of 54.61 and scored 3823 runs. He also scored eight centuries and 32 half centuries under his belt.
