FBR launches new payment creation system to simplify tax payments in Pakistan
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has launched the New Payment Creation System, an advanced platform aimed at simplifying tax payments for individuals and businesses throughout Pakistan.
On Wednesday, FBR shared details about this initiative, which aligns with the government’s goal to modernize the country’s tax framework. This new system, called ePayment 2.0, is integrated into the IRIS 2.0 portal and is designed to streamline tax payment processes nationwide.
ePayment 2.0 offers secure, efficient, and user-friendly online payment options, allowing taxpayers to make payments directly from their bank accounts through internet banking, ATMs, and mobile banking, thereby removing the need for in-person visits to banks.
This system represents a significant improvement in revenue management, covering various taxes, including Income Tax, Sales Tax, Federal Excise Duty, and Withholding Taxes. Previously, taxpayers had to use a different ePayment system outside of IRIS 2.0, which required switching between different platforms. Now, ePayment 2.0 provides a unified and enhanced user interface within IRIS 2.0.
By generating a unique Payment Slip ID (PSID), the system allows for quick and convenient payments for both registered and unregistered taxpayers. Once a payment is made, a Computerized Payment Receipt (CPR) is sent via email and SMS, ensuring official confirmation and easy future access within the IRIS 2.0 system.
The system features a secure, multi-step workflow that allows taxpayers to generate a PSID, make payments through automated channels, and receive a CPR in real time, all accessible for future compliance needs within IRIS.
To improve transparency and accountability, the ePayment system includes a comprehensive PSID search feature, enabling taxpayers to easily retrieve and confirm their payment records. This automation reduces errors and delays, significantly enhancing the tax payment experience and supporting FBR’s vision for a more business-friendly tax environment.
Aisha Farooq, Director General (IT&DT), inaugurated the ePayment System at PRAL Headquarters in Islamabad, highlighting the importance of this digital advancement in FBR’s modernization efforts and its role in improving taxpayer convenience and operational efficiency.
With ePayment 2.0, FBR has not only simplified the tax payment process but also integrated it within the IRIS 2.0 platform, providing taxpayers with a seamless and improved experience.

By focusing on user experience through a modernized, unified interface, FBR reaffirms its commitment to supporting taxpayers and promoting a more efficient, digitally advanced Pakistan.
