AIOU begins admissions of LLM, MS, Ph.D (Shari'ah)

ISLAMABAD: Allama Iqbal Open University(AIOU) has launched first time the admissions of LLM (Shari'ah), MS (Shari'ah) and Ph.D (Shari'ah) from its current semester Autumn, 2014, the admissions of which would be closed on September 19.

Admission forms and prospectuses can be obtained from the University's main campus at Sector H-8, Islamabad and from its countrywide campuses and coordinating offices.

Eligibility for admission in LLM (Shari'ah), MS (Shari/ah) and Ph.D (Shari'ah), detail of courses and fee structure have been mentioned in prospectuses of these programs, this was announced by Dr. Ghulam Yousaf, Program Coordinator/Chairman, Department of Shari'ah and Law, AIOU, said a news release issued here on Monday.

The candidates who are interested in admission in any of these programmes should collect the admission form, fill it carefully and attach all the required certificates/degrees/documents as mentioned in the prospectuses and send before 19th September, 2014 to the Department of Shari'ah and Law, Room No.6, Block 12, Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies, AIOU, Islamabad.

There will be no requirement of NTS-GAT (General/Subject) test for admission in these programs, however the department of Shari'ah and Law will hold entry test as per rules of the HEC/University.

Entry test for admission in LLM (Shari'ah) and MS (Shari'ah) will be held on 15th October while the said test/interview for admission in Ph.D (Shari'ah) will be held on October 20. Call letters will be sent to all the eligible candidates for test/interview.

Dr. Yousaf said that these are the most important and significant programs offered by the Department of Shari'ah and Law, AIOU. The graduates with LLM Shari'ah/M.S Shari'ah degree and Ph.D from AIOU will serve on important academic and administrative post in the colleges and Universities of Pakistan as well in the foreign countries.

The students will complete course work with qualified tutors, these programs have been designed to carry out research in different fields of Shari'ah in order to explore new dimension of understanding of Islam.

Aim and objectives of launching these programs to prepare scholars who have a grasp of the Islamic Studies in general and a command over the area of specialization in the Shari'ah particular and to provide opportunities of professional growth and development of Shari'ah scholars.
