Democracy or Dacoity?
At present our beloved country is facing enormous problems and is going through the toughest stage of its social, economic and democratic development. The memogate, NRO etc has provoked unease and has started a war of ego between different departments of the state. However, every leader and department is rigorously voicing for the democracy, whatever happens democracy should not be derailed, which is good sign but they never defined, democracy.
The democracy is considered as the best governing system in the world, with true democracy a state can flourish and uphold the supremacy of law and can bring prosperity to general public. The democracy currently practiced in Pakistan is negative and twisted version of democracy this democracy is seeding favoritism, flourishing corruption, important appointments are made on the basis of personal relationship and merit is brutally ruined down, the president, prime minister and their party are considered above the law. Is that democracy?
The people of Pakistan elected them for change and for good governance and to take country towards prosperity and to join wealthiest countries list; not the license to do whatever they like and whatever they want for 5 years. In last couple of years government has taken biggest loans which exceeded the amount loaned in last 60 years, despite that our national departments are diving like a stone and are at the verge of disaster. Some of them were once considered as most profitable institutes but are now considered as almost bankrupt. At a glance  PIA, Pakistan Railway, Steel mill, HEC almost every department has gone burst and corrupt.
The way election of Senate (Upper House) of Pakistan was conducted and adjustments were made and bribery of funds were executed to get votes, raised serious concerns about Political feature of democracy in Pakistan. All political parties who have participated in present parliament, behaved in rough manner and joined hands together for personal and party interests only and left the public unheard and so forth.  The Senators should be directly elected by the public so the dilemma of horse-trading should vanish. The masses should be represented and their interest should be protected along. The present senate elections are not election but are a selection by way of give and take.
These elections-cum-selections have raised serious doubt about the role of senate. The upper house is for check and balance and to protect provinces from any kind of discrimination. The Senators are also public representative but now they have became party representatives only as they were selected by zombie type MNAs who only vote for their parties or for money.
I love my country and would like to have a democracy where rule of law and merit is prime. Likewise I am sure me and hundred and thousand of Pakistanis are against the hypocritical version of democracy which is presently deployed in Pakistan. We are against the democracy where ruling class is above the law, where corruption is prime hobby of corrupt politicians, where national treasury is distributed among their families and friends, where in the name of interest of democracy coalitions are made and ministries are distributed and allocated according to the wish of coalition partner. We are against the democracy where illiterate friends of Prime Minister are appointed as head of departments to become millionaire and obviously a huge sums of kickbacks for PM, we are against the democracy where national interest of beloved country is compromised and preferred on personal interest.
The democracy is the government of the people, by the people and for the people where voice of masses is heard and acted upon. The people of Pakistan elected present parliament for good and has not given them authority to snatch bread and peace of an ordinary Pakistani. The inflation rate in country has surpassed any rate in the history of Pakistan. The competency of the government is apparent from present law and order situation in country, inflation rate, devaluation of rupee value, every day corruption scandal etc. In nutshell, this kind of democracy must be changed in to real democracy, where basic principle is no one is above the law, where every government office holders is answerable for their actions and where merit is priority. We need a democratic solution to the gray area of present democracy of Pakistan where corrupt people got not only elected but also rule the country and in the name of coalition opposition is assassinated in a sophisticated manner and cunning swiftness.
May ALLAH bless us all and guide us to the right path. Ameen.
