40-bed special ward at ASH

The City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has established 40-bed special ward at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for patients suffering from various viruses and contagious diseases.

The facility was formally inaugurated on Saturday by Sindh Minister for Environment, Khalid Umar.

This separate ward would be for the patients suffering from viruses including that of the Dengue as well as the contagious diseases.

A CDGK official said that the 25 patients at the Hospital who are suffering from Dengue virus, have been shifted to this special ward.

At a briefing it was informed that the treatment of Dengue patients would be made available at this ward free of cost.

This ward can also be utilised in case of any emergency, it was further stated.

During the briefing it was also informed that of the 102 patients brought to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital only 33 were diagnosed with dengue virus and eight of them were sent home after treatment while 25 are getting treatment at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital has for the first time also initiated the cell separation.
