At least four people were killed and 21 injured in separate explosions triggered by separatist rebels in India's north-eastern state of Assam, police said on Saturday.
"An 11-year-old boy was killed on the spot and another seriously injured" in two powerful explosions Saturday at Sunsali village on the outskirts of Assam's main city of Guwahati, senior police officer Rajen Singh told AFP.
The twin blasts occurred within minutes of each other in the same area where a crowd of about 500 people had gathered to perform religious rituals, he said.
"We believe it was an improvised explosive device concealed in a bag," Singh said adding police suspected rebels belonging to the outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) were responsible.
Earlier in the day, police said three people had been killed and 20 injured late on Friday in a blast at a busy vegetable market in Dhekiajuli town, about 140 kilometres (87 miles) north of Guwahati.
Police said Friday's blast too was triggered by the ULFA though no group has claimed responsibility for any of the explosions.
