A man was robbed at gunpoint by a woman posing as a hitchhiker in the Korangi area of Karachi, which continues to struggle with high street crime rates.
The incident occurred on Friday night when an elderly woman wearing a face veil flagged down a motorcyclist near Singer Chowrangi.
According to the victim’s complaint, after accepting her request for a ride, he asked her to disembark when they reached Korangi No. 5, as he needed to head home. Upon getting off, the woman pulled a gun from her handbag, pointed it at his chest, and demanded his valuables.
The victim complied, surrendering his mobile phone and Rs 5,000 in cash. The woman then fled with her accomplices, who had been trailing them on two motorcycles since the start of the ride.

The victim has filed a complaint at the Awami Colony Police Station and is urging law enforcement to take strict action against the robbers. The Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) reports over 50,000 street crime incidents in Karachi from January to August this year, highlighting the ongoing safety concerns in the city.
