The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather advisory warning of heavy rains expected across Punjab on 8 and 9 Muharram.
According to PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia, there are also chances of heavy rainfall in various districts of Punjab tonight. He has urged the administration of Muharram processions to take protective measures in light of the severe weather conditions.
Kathia advised participants to maintain a safe distance from electric poles and wires. He also cautioned against holding events on dilapidated roofs and recommended avoiding crossing rivers and streams as much as possible.
The PDMA has highlighted a particular risk of flooding in the hilly areas of Dera Ghazi Khan, and has advised residents living along river banks to take special precautions.
Rescue agencies have been directed to remain on high alert during the 8th and 9th of Muharram. In any emergency, the public has been advised to contact the PDMA helpline at 1129.

PMD has predicted hot and humid weather across most parts of the country. However, rain-thundershowers accompanied by windstorms and gusty winds are likely at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Potohar region, Islamabad, northeastern Punjab, northeastern and southern Balochistan, southeastern Sindh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.
The hot and humid weather is expected in Sindh; however, rain-thundershowers associated with windstorms and gusty winds are likely at isolated places in Tharparkar, Umarkot, Mirpur Khas, Sanghar, Hyderabad, Ghotki and surrounding areas.
