SHC bars private school from increasing fee

The Sindh High Court on Saturday barred a school from increasing the fee of students and summoned the director general private schools to the next hearing.

The matter came before Justice Abdul Rehman when a recently established private school increased the fee of students to Rs30,000, which forced parents to approach the court.

The petitioner stated that the school started its new branch in August 2022. At the time of admission, the parents were assured of all facilities including air-conditioned classrooms.

It added that the school administration gradually changed its behavior and, now children were studying inside the room with tin roofs.

The petitioner further added that on the refusal to pay additional fee, the school asked to withdraw their children or cancel admission.

The court said in remarks that school administration can only raise fee by 5 per cent, and the school would not be allowed to soar the fee by more than five per cent until the decision of the court.

The court while ceasing school to cancel admission halted them increasing fee and adjourned the hearing case.
