Pakistan’s Corps Commanders Conference, chaired by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, expressed concern over attacks originating from areas controlled by the Afghan Taliban regime and took note of India’s rhetoric on the Indus Waters Treaty, the military’s media wing said.

The 276th Corps Commanders Conference was held at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi under the chairmanship of the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

The forum offered Fateha for the martyrs of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies and innocent civilians, saying their sacrifices remain the foundation of Pakistan’s security, unity and resilience.

It also reviewed the prevailing security environment, expressing satisfaction with the operational preparedness, professionalism and combat readiness of the armed forces.

The forum expressed serious concern over the continued use of Afghan Taliban-controlled territory by Indian-sponsored terrorist groups, including Fitna al Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan, to carry out attacks inside Pakistan.

It said lasting peace and stability in the region is contingent on preventing the use of that territory by Indian proxies, for which the Afghan Taliban regime is directly responsible.

The commanders said Pakistan has the unequivocal right to defend its people from terrorism and that the armed forces would continue intelligence-based operations against militants operating from Afghan Taliban-controlled territory under Operation Ghazab lil-Haq.

The forum also underscored the need for governance structures in affected areas aimed at public service and welfare, and at breaking what it called the terror-crime nexus operating under political patronage.

The forum said that following the “comprehensive defeat” inflicted on Marka-e-Haq, there had been increased reliance on externally supported hybrid warfare and disinformation campaigns to cause unrest.

It condemned all forms of state-supported financing, facilitation or sponsorship of proxies and said attempts to destabilise Pakistan through hybrid means would continue to be countered with strategic clarity and firm resolve.

Reviewing the regional landscape, the forum said it appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting dialogue, de-escalation and regional stability, and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to peaceful conflict resolution, respect for international law and enhanced regional cooperation on shared security challenges.

Taking note of Indian rhetoric on the Indus Waters Treaty, the forum reaffirmed guidance issued in the National Security Committee’s directive of April 24, 2025, and expressed commitment to undertake all measures necessary to ensure the availability of Pakistan’s rightful share of water, in accordance with government directives and the aspirations of the Pakistani people.

The forum rejected and strongly condemned the ongoing human rights violations and unilateral demographic engineering in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), declaring that Kashmir remains the “jugular vein” of Pakistan.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s unyielding diplomatic, political and moral support for the Kashmir cause, the forum said that true regional stability hinges entirely on granting the Kashmiri people their inalienable right to self-determination in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions.

In his concluding remarks, the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces directed commanders to follow up expeditiously on the multi-domain transformation plan in line with the evolving character of war.

He also called on commanders to maintain the highest standards of vigilance, operational readiness and professional excellence, emphasising integrated responses to conventional, sub-conventional and hybrid threats while safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and national interests at all costs.
