Sindh Rangers on Saturday announced the arrest of a suspected militant linked to the Fitna al-Khawarij faction led by Mullah Fazlullah during an operation in Karachi’s Shah Latif Town area.

According to a Rangers statement, the suspect, identified as Javed Ali Khan alias Swati, is associated with the Fazlullah group and was wanted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Swat.

The paramilitary force said the suspect fled abroad following a military operation in 2008 but returned to Pakistan in 2022 and allegedly resumed militant activities.

Rangers claimed that the arrested militant was involved in a rocket launcher attack carried out on June 7, 2026, in Shakardara, Swat, in which three civilians were killed.

The force added that the suspect had been on the CTD’s wanted list and was apprehended during a targeted operation based on intelligence information.

Following the arrest, the accused was handed over to the CTD for further legal proceedings and investigation.

Authorities said efforts are continuing to identify and apprehend other individuals linked to militant networks operating in different parts of the country.
