Sindh cabinet approves budget ahead of assembly presentation

The Sindh Cabinet on Wednesday approved the proposed provincial budget for the fiscal year 2026-27, ahead of its presentation in the provincial assembly later today.

The new financial year’s budget was approved in a meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

The chief minister, who also holds the portfolio of the finance department, is set to present the province’s budget during the Sindh Assembly session later today.

Addressing the meeting, Shah said that the budget would cater to every class of society, adding that steps were being taken to eradicate poverty from the province.

The chief minister said the budget has been prepared while keeping all segments of society in mind.

He said that on the instructions of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the government is taking measures for poverty alleviation and has also made decisions regarding the minimum wage for workers in the new budget.

“The budget of the new fiscal year takes care of every segment of society,” Murad Ali Shah said.

The cabinet meeting also reviewed development work carried out during the current fiscal year.

The chief minister said the government will continue its efforts to serve the people and will further expand development work in the coming year.
