Sindh and Balochistan set to unveil budgets for FY2026-27 today
3 min readThe Sindh and Balochistan governments will present their budgets for the next financial year in the respective provincial assemblies today (Wednesday).
In Sindh, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, who also holds the portfolio of Finance Minister, will present the budget.
In Balochistan, Provincial Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani will present the budget.
Sindh budget
The total size of the Sindh budget is expected to exceed Rs3.5 trillion,** according to budget documents obtained by Aaj News.
The budget proposes significant allocations for key social sectors, with Rs38.8 billion expected to be earmarked for health and Rs50.1 billion for education.
Officials say the budget will outline development priorities for the upcoming financial year, with a focus on ongoing and new projects across the province.
The detailed development budget papers, reviewed by Aaj News, indicate that spending plans will be presented alongside broader fiscal measures during today’s assembly session.
The proposed development budget stands at Rs720 billion and includes more than 3,715 development schemes across the province.
According to official sources, nearly 73 per cent of Sindh’s revenue is expected to come from transfers under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, highlighting continued dependence on federal transfers.
Relief measures for government employees are also under consideration, including a proposed 10 per cent increase in salaries and an 8 per cent rise in pensions, the sources said.
Officials indicated that the overall development budget is likely to be about 28 per cent lower than the current fiscal year.
No new taxes in Balochistan budget
Balochistan will submit a Rs1.1 trillion budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 in the provincial assembly today.
No new taxes will be proposed in the budget, with Finance Minister Shuaib Nosherwani scheduled to table the proposal at 4pm, officials said
The budget places a strong emphasis on education, healthcare, and law and order, alongside broader public welfare priorities.
According to official sources, the health sector is expected to see a significant increase in allocations, with proposed spending raised to around Rs90 billion, compared to approximately Rs71 billion in the previous fiscal year.
The plan also includes around Rs1 billion for new trauma centres, Rs400 million for burn units, and Rs8-8.5 billion for the procurement of medicines.
In the education sector, funding for school education is proposed to increase from Rs102 billion to between Rs110 billion and Rs115 billion, aimed at improving educational facilities across the province.
The budget also includes provisions for approximately 5,000 new job opportunities, while around Rs10 billion has been proposed for the purchase of machinery, vehicles, and other government assets.
The sources said the size of the provincial Annual Development Programme (ADP) is expected to be between Rs200 billion and Rs215 billion, down from Rs250 billion in the previous year.
For law and order, more than Rs100 billion will be proposed to strengthen security measures and improve the overall security situation in the province.
