The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Sindh, in a joint operation with a federal intelligence agency, has arrested a facilitator allegedly involved in supplying modern drone technology and electronic equipment to militants, officials said on Saturday.

According to CTD SSP Irfan Bahadur, the arrested suspect has been identified as Tahir, who was linked to a network associated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

He is accused of providing various electronic devices and equipment used by the group.

Officials said two kilograms of explosive material, a drone, batteries and a remote control device were recovered during the operation.

Authorities further said the suspect’s brother, identified as Talal alias Zaid Baloch, is based in Afghanistan and remains in contact with the militant network.

During preliminary interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted to purchasing drone parts, batteries, control boards and other electronic components from markets in Karachi and online platforms.

Officials said the materials were being used in the preparation of drone attacks, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and suicide vests.

The CTD has registered a case and launched further investigations.
