Authorities in Kuwait activated an emergency plan at Kuwait International Airport on Wednesday after one person was killed in Iranian air strikes, causing injuries and damage to several facilities.

The General Staff of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces said the strike was part of what it called “criminal Iranian aggression,” alleging the drones were launched in a coordinated hostile operation targeting critical infrastructure.

Kuwait’s Defence Ministry spokesman Brig-Gen Saud Al Otaibi said the attack hit the T1 passenger terminal, disrupting airport operations.

He confirmed that several people were injured and taken to the hospital, though the extent of their injuries has not yet been disclosed.

Kuwait’s General Civil Aviation Authority said all flights were suspended following the incident, with services diverted to alternative airports. Air traffic operations remain halted until further notice.

Officials said air defence systems tracked the incoming drones in real time, and investigations are ongoing.

The Defence Ministry warned it remained prepared to respond to further escalation, adding that all necessary measures would be taken to protect national sovereignty and critical infrastructure.

In a separate development, Bahrain’s Ministry of Defence said it had also come under attack involving Iranian drones and three missiles.

The ministry described the strikes as “heinous” and part of Iran’s “systematic hostile approach,” alleging civilian infrastructure was targeted. No casualties were immediately reported in Bahrain.

The twin incidents mark a sharp escalation in regional tensions, with Gulf states reporting coordinated aerial attacks on civilian and strategic sites.
