Rs17.1 trillion budget expected for next fiscal year
1 min readPakistan’s federal budget for the upcoming fiscal year is expected to be around Rs17.1 trillion, with a proposed economic growth target of 4.1 per cent and an inflation estimate of 8.4 per cent, according to sources in the Ministry of Finance.
The National Assembly is scheduled to convene its budget session on June 5, where the federal budget for fiscal year 2026–27 will be presented.
The National Economic Council (NEC) is expected to meet on June 3 to approve the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), while the Economic Survey for the current fiscal year will be released on June 4.
The sources said the petroleum levy target for the next fiscal year is expected to be Rs1.727 trillion, while the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) tax collection target may be set at Rs15.267 trillion.
The size of the PSDP is projected at Rs1.1 trillion, while Rs7.824 trillion is likely to be allocated for interest payments. Defence expenditure is proposed at Rs2.665 trillion.
The sources said the figures remain subject to final approval as budget preparations were ongoing ahead of the official presentation in parliament.
