Key meeting today to set federal development budget, economic targets
2 min readThe Annual Planning Coordination Committee (APCC) is scheduled to hold a key meeting today (Monday) to finalise recommendations for the federal development budget and the annual economic plan for the fiscal year 2026-27, Business Recorder said in a report.
The session will review proposals for next year’s development budget while assessing the performance and utilisation of the current fiscal year’s allocations.
Detailed scrutiny of development allocations for all federal ministries and divisions is expected.
Officials from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce, and the State Bank of Pakistan are slated to present their assessments and recommendations during the meeting.
The agenda also includes provincial and special-area development plans.
According to sources, the Ministry of Finance has proposed a ceiling of Rs1,126 billion for the federal Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for FY2026-27, while provinces will continue to formulate and implement their own annual development programmes.
The APCC is also expected to set key macroeconomic targets for the upcoming fiscal year, including an economic growth target of 4 per cent or higher.
According to the report, the meeting will also review growth projections for key sectors, including agriculture, industry, and services.
Officials will also discuss the inflation forecasts for FY2026-27, with sources indicating an average target between 8.2 per cent and 8.6 per cent.
The committee will finalise its recommendations after deliberating proposals from relevant ministries, departments and provincial governments.
The recommendations will then be forwarded to the National Economic Council for approval, shaping the country’s development and economic policies for the year ahead.
