Drone strike sparks fire at UAE's Barakah Nuclear Plant
1 min readA fire erupted outside the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday following a drone strike, officials confirmed.
According to media reports, emergency teams quickly responded to the blaze at the facility, located in the Al Dhafra Region of Abu Dhabi.
The fire involved an external electrical generator located outside the plant’s inner perimeter, the reports added.
Emergency teams acted swiftly, and no injuries were reported.
Authorities emphasised that there was no impact on radiological safety levels.
UAE’s Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) said the incident did not affect the plant’s overall safety or the readiness of its essential systems, adding that all units at Barakah are operating normally.
Officials assured the public that all precautionary measures had been taken and urged reliance on official updates, warning against the spread of rumours or unverified reports.
