Pakistan’s Sindh provincial government suspended three senior police officers on Wednesday following the arrest of prominent activist Sheema Kirmani, with the home minister ordering immediate action and vowing a full investigation into the incident.

Provincial Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar directed the suspension of DSP President Nasir Afridi, SHO Woman Hina Mughal and SHO Artillery Maidan Nadeem Haider, according to a statement from the ministry.

“There is a zero-tolerance policy on misuse of powers”. Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar said.

Lanjar said a full investigation had been ordered into the circumstances surrounding Kirmani’s arrest. He added that the respect and human rights of women would be ensured at all costs, and that no individual would be permitted to take the law into their own hands or engage in misconduct.
