Govt reduces normal passport delivery time to 14 days
1 min readIn a significant move to streamline passport services, the government has reduced the delivery time for normal passports from 21 days to just 14 days.
A decision to this effect was taken during a meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State Talal Chaudhry, during which measures to improve the passport system came under discussion.
The meeting, attended by senior officials including the interior secretary, DG Passport and Immigration, and others, also announced a series of measures aimed at improving the overall efficiency of the passport service.
Addressing the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi directed the officials to implement a fully cashless system in passport offices within the next 15 days.
He remarked that this move will curtail the influence of the agent mafia and provide a user-friendly experience for citizens.
Other key decisions made during the meeting include the finalisation of the business passport issuance system and the improvement of passport delivery at homes.
