Amanda Seyfried will lend her voice to Cinderella in Netflix’s upcoming animated feature Steps, directed by Alyce Tzue and John Ripa, according to Khaleej Times.

The film also stars Ali Wong as Lilith and Stephanie Hsu as Margot.

In a modern twist on the classic tale, Lilith is blamed for hijacking the Royal Ball with a stolen magic wand, accidentally turning her sister Margot into a frog, and leaving the kingdom under the control of a prince-obsessed mean girl.

Lilith must then team up with Cinderella and a surprisingly charming troll to save the kingdom and challenge the idea that “villains” don’t deserve a happy ending.

Director Alyce Tzue praised Seyfried, saying, “Amanda has this incredible ability to make her characters specific and relatable, and we absolutely needed that when taking on a character as legendary as Cinderella.

Her portrayal is hilarious, heartbreaking, and refreshingly human.”

The film’s producers include Amy Poehler, Jane Hartwell, and Kim Lessing, with Poehler and Lessing producing for Paper Kite Productions.
