Four lady doctors suspended over ‘C-section competition’ video
1 min readFour female doctors of Lahore’s Lady Willingdon Hospital have been suspended after a video showing a “competition” between doctors to perform C-section operations first went viral on social media.
The video, recorded inside the hospital’s operation theatre, shows doctors joking about who would complete the surgery first, raising serious concerns over medical ethics and patient dignity.
Reacting to the incident, the Punjab government issued a show-cause notice to the head of the Gynaecology Department and sought a formal explanation from the medical superintendent of Lady Willingdon Hospital.
The four doctors whose postgraduate training has been suspended are Dr Fatima Toor, Dr Mahem Amin, Dr Zainab Tahir, and Dr Ayesha Afzal.
Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique condemned the incident, saying it violated medical ethics, undermined patient dignity, and breached professional standards.
Punjab Health Secretary Azmat Mehmood stated that failure to provide a satisfactory response within the stipulated time would lead to further action against the responsible personnel.
The show-cause notice cited the doctors’ actions as contrary to patient safety standards and the principles of trust in medical professionals.
The authorities said the incident highlighted negligence in performing clinical duties and breaches of hospital protocols.
