PM Shehbaz, Qatar Amir discuss regional situation in phone call
1 min readPrime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on Wednesday, during which the two leaders exchanged Eid-ul-Fitr greetings and discussed the evolving regional situation.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the prime minister conveyed his warm wishes to the Qatari leadership and people, which were reciprocated by the Amir.
During the call, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed deep concern over the ongoing conflict in the region and strongly condemned attacks against Qatar and other brotherly Gulf countries.
He also expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and prayed for the recovery of those injured.
The prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s complete solidarity and support with Qatar and its people during this difficult time.
He also appreciated Qatar’s restraint amid the current situation.
He briefed the Qatar Amir on Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach and peace efforts, emphasising that Islamabad has consistently urged all parties to de-escalate tensions and resolve differences through dialogue and diplomacy.
The Amir of Qatar appreciated Pakistan’s sincere diplomatic efforts for regional peace, the statement said. Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact in the coming days.
