March and April petroleum cargoes secured, says government
2 min readThe government on Tuesday affirmed that petroleum supplies across the country remain stable, with fuel cargoes for March and April largely secured.
The announcement came during a meeting on petrol prices chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in Islamabad, according to a press release issued by the Finance Division.
The announcement came as government authorities were closely monitoring the international energy market, keeping a watchful eye on developments that could affect fuel availability.
During the meeting, officials reviewed the country’s energy supply situation and were informed that stocks of crude oil and refined petroleum products remain at comfortable levels, providing reassurance to consumers.
Authorities said that the supply chain — from import terminals and refineries to storage facilities and petrol pumps — is functioning smoothly.
The meeting was informed that additional shipments were being arranged to bolster reserves, while refineries were operating at normal production levels to maintain a steady flow.
The meeting highlighted the importance of keeping the energy system ready and directed refineries to maintain consistent production so that the country’s energy supply remains reliable for everyone.
Aurangzeb said that proactive planning and coordination helped the country maintain stable energy supplies despite global uncertainties.
He reiterated that ensuring an uninterrupted availability of petroleum products remains the government’s top priority.
The meeting was attended by senior officials and ministers, including Power Minister Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, National Food Security Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain, Maritime Affairs Minister Junaid Anwar Chaudhary, and Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani.
