Trump vows to hit Iran ‘20 times harder’ over Hormuz
2 min readIn a stark warning to Tehran, President Donald Trump said the United States would unleash an overwhelming response if Iran continued its interference with oil shipments in the crucial Strait of Hormuz.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said any effort by Iran to block the flow of oil through the key maritime chokepoint would prompt a powerful military response from Washington.
“If Iran does anything that stops the flow of oil within the Strait of Hormuz, they will be hit by the United States of America twenty times harder than they have been hit thus far,” he said.
Trump added that the United States would also target sites he described as “easily destroyable” if Tehran attempted to obstruct shipping in the strait, warning that such action would make it extremely difficult for Iran to rebuild.
He also characterised the stance as part of a broader effort to safeguard global energy supplies, noting that the measure would benefit countries reliant on the route for oil shipments.
Trump described the policy as a “gift” from the United States to nations heavily dependent on the waterway, including China and others that rely on the passage for energy imports.
The Strait of Hormuz, located between Iran and Oman, is one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes, carrying a significant share of global crude shipments.
