Heavy rain accompanied by thunder and strong winds lashed the hill station of Murree on Tuesday, triggering a road accident that left three people injured, rescue officials said.

According to authorities, two vehicles skidded off the slippery road at the Aliot Dhaka area and plunged down a slope.

Rescue teams said three people were injured in the accident and were being shifted to Civil Hospital Murree for medical treatment.

The rainfall reduced visibility and made roads slippery, increasing the risk of accidents in the mountainous area.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that the rain spell in Murree is likely to continue for about a week, raising concerns about further travel disruptions and hazardous road conditions.

Authorities have advised motorists to drive carefully on wet and winding roads during the ongoing weather spell.
