PM Shehbaz Sharif chairs high-level security meeting
1 min readAn important meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday at the Prime Minister’s House on account of regional security.
Senior military leadership and heads of intelligence agencies attended the meeting, which reviewed the security situation in the region, including developments related to Afghanistan and Iran, according to sources.
Consultations were also held on foreign policy and national security matters, with various options and strategies under consideration. Discussions focused on Pakistan’s strategic response to evolving regional dynamics.
The meeting comes after Iranian media reported the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in alleged U.S. and Israeli strikes. Iran has declared 40 days of mourning.
In view of the current regional situation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has postponed his scheduled two-day official visit to Russia, sources said. He was due to depart for Moscow on March 2, but the visit has been deferred due to security concerns, and Russian authorities have been informed.
