Pakistan set Sri Lanka a stiff target of 213 runs in their Super 8 match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, thanks to a blistering century by Sahibzada Farhan.

Batting first after Sri Lanka won the toss, Pakistan posted 212 for 8 in 20 overs at Kandy. Farhan and Fakhar Zaman delivered a dominant opening stand of 176 runs — the highest opening partnership in World Cup history.

Farhan smashed his second century of the tournament, reaching the milestone in 58 balls, while Fakhar scored a rapid 84 off 42 deliveries. Farhan became the first batter in the 2026 World Cup to score two centuries in a single edition.

Pakistan made notable changes to the playing XI, leaving out Babar Azam, Saim Ayub, and Salman Mirza. They were replaced by Naseem Shah, Khawaja Nafay, and Abrar Ahmed.

Pakistan must bowl Sri Lanka out for 147 or fewer to secure qualification for the semi-finals.
