Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, on Wednesday strongly criticised the party leadership’s handling of Imran Khan’s health issues.

Speaking to the media in Islamabad, she questioned the party leaders’ role, saying, “Enough is enough — whoever cannot carry the burden of the PTI founder’s narrative should step aside.”

She said the party had no right to make decisions regarding Imran Khan’s health.

“It is not the party’s mandate but ours (family). From now on, no decision regarding his health will be taken without our permission,” she said.

Aleema Khan stated that she learned from Mohsin Naqvi that Barrister Gohar was going to visit the jail, adding that Barrister Gohar himself did not inform the family.

She said the party should fight for the PTI founder’s medical treatment and alleged that decisions regarding his health were being concealed from the family.

She said the party had been told not to make any decisions about his health without consultation or permission from the family.

Lamenting the absence of senior party leaders, she questioned where the senior legal figures were and what role the party leadership was playing at this critical time.

Naming senior lawyers Latif Khosa and Hamid Khan, she questioned their absence.

She also criticised PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan, asking why the party leadership did not appear to be active.

She further said that Imran Khan had directed senior lawyers to seek early hearings of his cases.

Aleema Khan claimed that the PTI founder is suffering from an eye problem and currently has two cases fixed for hearing.

She said that if the two cases proceed now, bail could be secured and legal relief obtained with relative ease.

She reiterated that no decision regarding Imran Khan’s health should be taken without the family’s consent.

Aleema Khan also sought an explanation over allegations that the family had been creating obstacles in Imran Khan’s medical treatment.

She alleged that the PTI founder’s family was being targeted and facing difficulties outside Adiala Jail, while others remained silent.

She said the family would continue its legal and political struggle for her brother.
