The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Saturday issued an alert forecasting rain and snowfall in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Monday night until Tuesday.

According to the PDMA, upper districts including Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Upper and Lower Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Swat, Buner, Malakand, Battagram, Shangla, Upper and Lower Kohistan, and Kolai Palas are likely to receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms, while mountainous areas may experience snowfall.

Rain is also expected in the plains, including Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, North and South Waziristan, Lakki Marwat, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan.

The authority directed district administrations and relevant departments to remain alert and take precautionary measures.

It warned that snowfall and rain could lead to road closures and slippery conditions in tourist areas such as Naran, Kaghan, Kalam, and Chitral. Tourists were advised to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise caution.

PDMA instructed Rescue 1122 and other emergency services to remain on high alert. Citizens were urged to stay in safe places during storms, while farmers and livestock owners were advised to protect crops and animals.

Authorities were also directed to monitor rivers, streams, and seasonal waterways in vulnerable areas.
