Balochistan, NBP launch subsidised electric scooter scheme
The Government of Balochistan and the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) have launched a subsidised electric scooter scheme to provide affordable transport to students, working women, and the general public.
A formal agreement was signed on January 20, 2026, at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Quetta. The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, Provincial Minister Mir Sadiq Umrani, senior provincial officials, and NBP representatives.
Under the scheme, electric scooters will be offered on subsidised instalments, aiming to ease mobility challenges and promote environmentally friendly transportation across the province.
Chief Minister Bugti said the initiative would ensure safe, affordable, and dignified commuting, particularly for students and working women. He added that the programme would help reduce daily travel costs while encouraging the shift toward sustainable transport options.
Emphasising the government’s welfare agenda, he said such projects directly improve quality of life, empower women and youth, and support inclusive development in Balochistan.
The chief minister reiterated that the provincial government would continue to introduce initiatives delivering tangible public benefits and supporting long-term economic and social progress.
