Junaid Safdar, grandson of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif and son of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, married Shanze Sheikh in a high-profile ceremony in Lahore on Saturday.

The Nikah was conducted by the custodian of the shrine of Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani, with religious scholar Mufti Raghib Hussain Naeemi granting permission on behalf of the bride. The Mahr for the bride was set at Rs125,000, according to family sources.

The wedding procession (baraat) departed from Jati Umra, accompanied by Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, senior family members, federal and provincial ministers, and a host of domestic and international guests.

The groom’s car was decorated with rose flowers, while prominent political figures also attended the event.

Shanze Sheikh, the bride, is the granddaughter of noted political personality Shaikh Rohail Asghar, adding to the ceremony’s political prominence.

The valima ceremony is scheduled for January 18 at Jati Umra, with sources saying approximately 800 guests have been invited.

Strict security arrangements have been implemented across Lahore for the three-day wedding celebrations, ensuring the smooth conduct of the events.
