A husband and wife were killed after being attacked with knives in Lasi Goth, an area of Sohrab Goth, police and rescue officials said on Thursday.

Rescue officials said the victims were assaulted by unknown persons, who repeatedly stabbed them, causing fatal injuries. Both died at the scene before they could be shifted to hospital.

Police said the couple had contracted a love marriage some time ago, adding that the incident appeared to be an honour killing. However, investigators said all aspects were being examined.

The victims were identified as belonging to the Magsi community, according to police.

A knife believed to be the murder weapon was recovered from the crime scene. The attackers fled after the incident, and no arrests had been made till the filing of this report.

Police said further investigation was underway to trace the suspects and establish the exact motive behind the killings.
