The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday strongly rejected allegations linking the party to terrorist elements, reiterating its longstanding condemnation of all acts of terrorism and calling for dialogue to restore peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Addressing a joint press conference in Islamabad, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, flanked by Salman Akram Raja and former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser, said terrorism was a “deep-rooted menace” that must be eliminated through a comprehensive and lawful strategy.

Barrister Gohar stressed that terrorism has no religion or nationality and said the full implementation of the 14-point National Action Plan was essential to address the threat.

He described as “irresponsible and dangerous” statements questioning why terrorists do not target PTI, and termed attempts to associate the party with militant groups as deeply regrettable.

Salman Akram Raja said it was unfortunate to explain PTI or its founder as facilitators of terrorism.

Referring to a recent jirga in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said all political parties had agreed that peace could not be achieved through the use of force.

He added that drone strikes and operations in public spaces were unacceptable, stressing that negotiations and employment opportunities were key to long-term stability.

Asad Qaiser said the press conference was not directed against any individual or institution but was held in support of peace.

He said PTI wanted to see a strong military and noted that political and social stakeholders at the KP jirga had unanimously condemned terrorism.

He also criticised the denial of financial rights to the province and called for narrowing the gap between state institutions and the public.

PTI leaders said meaningful negotiations were not possible while public leaders, including the party founder, remained incarcerated.

They stressed that lasting peace in the country would require bringing all stakeholders to the table.
