The Punjab Bar Council (PBC) has restored the law licence of Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq after reviewing his objections to the earlier suspension, officials said on Tuesday.

According to a statement issued by the Vice Chairman of the Punjab Bar Council, the decision to reinstate the licence was taken in light of the objections submitted by Barrister Ali Ashfaq.

The council will submit a detailed report on the matter to the Lahore High Court later today.

The statement said that following the restoration of the licence, the case has been referred to the PBC’s disciplinary committee for further proceedings.

Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq had challenged the suspension of his licence before the Lahore High Court. During the hearing, the court directed the Punjab Bar Council to hear the advocate’s objections and take a decision in accordance with the law.

The Punjab Bar Council clarified that the initial action against Barrister Ali Ashfaq was taken in response to a letter received from the president and general secretary of the Karachi Bar Association.

Further proceedings in the matter will continue before the disciplinary committee, while the Lahore High Court is expected to review the council’s compliance report.
