Pakistan beat Zimbabwe to clinch Under-19 tri-nation series title
The Pakistan Under-19 team added another title to its growing list of achievements on Tuesday, defeating hosts Zimbabwe by nine wickets in the final of the Under-19 tri-nation ODI series.
Batting first after Pakistan opted to field, Zimbabwe Under-19 were bowled out for 158 in 44.4 overs.
The hosts suffered an early collapse as Pakistan pacer Umar Zaib dismantled the top order, reducing Zimbabwe to five wickets for just 15 runs.
Michael Blignaut top-scored for Zimbabwe with 60 runs, while Tetenda Chemogoro remained unbeaten on 28. Benny Zuze contributed 16, and Leroy Chiwohla 15, but seven Zimbabwe batters failed to reach double figures.
For Pakistan, Umar Zaib claimed four wickets, Abdul Subhan took two, while Muhammad Siyam, Daniyal Ali Khan and Ahmed Hussain picked up one wicket each.
In reply, Pakistan chased down the 159-run target in just 16.2 overs, losing only one wicket.
Opener Sameer Minhas starred with a commanding 114-run innings, smashing 17 fours and five sixes.
Muhammad Shayan scored an unbeaten 38, while Usman Khan finished on two not out. Leroy Chiwohla claimed the lone wicket for Zimbabwe.
The emphatic victory capped a successful tour for Pakistan, who recently won the Under-19 Asia Cup, underlining their dominance at the youth level.
Mohsin Naqvi congratulates
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi congratulated the team on winning the tri-nation series.
In a message on X, he praised the players’ hard work, commitment and skill, saying they had made the nation proud.
Naqvi also lauded Sameer Minhas for his aggressive batting and commended captain Farhan Yousuf, the rest of the squad and support staff for their overall performance.
He expressed hope that the team would carry the same momentum into the upcoming Under-19 World Cup.
