Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem on Thursday booked his place in the men’s javelin throw final at the 2026 Commonwealth Games after delivering a confident performance in the qualification round in Glasgow, Scotland.

The 28-year-old produced a composed performance in the qualifying round, finishing seventh among 18 competitors to seal his place in the medal event.

Arshad registered his best throw of 78.63 metres on his opening attempt.

His second throw was ruled a foul, while he recorded 75.65 metres with his third attempt.

India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra also advanced to the final, finishing fifth in the qualifying standings with a best throw of 79.61 metres.

Chopra opened with a throw of 76.28 metres before improving to 79.61 metres on his second attempt.

According to the event organisers, the men’s javelin throw final will be held on Friday night.
