PCB submits preliminary squad for T20 World Cup to ICC
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has submitted the names of its preliminary squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 to the International Cricket Council (ICC), sources said on Saturday.
PCB will have the option to make changes to the squad at its discretion until January 31.
According to the sources, PCB has sent the names of a 15-member preliminary squad along with reserve players to the ICC.
After January 31, any changes to the squad will require approval from the ICC Technical Committee.
The final squad is expected to be announced after Pakistan’s upcoming series against Sri Lanka.
During the series, the performances of two to three players will be closely monitored, which could influence the final squad selection.
The preliminary squad includes Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Haris Rauf, with Salman Ali Agha named as the T20 captain. Abdul Samad and Abrar Ahmed have also been included.
Other players named in the squad are Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Khawaja Muhammad Nawaf, and Mohammad Nawaz, alongside Salman Mirza, Mohammad Wasim Jr., Naseem Shah, and Sahibzada Farhan.
Saeem Ayub, Shadab Khan, Usman Khan, and Usman Tariq are also part of the preliminary squad.
The sources added that Pakistan will play all of its matches in the T20 World Cup 2026 in Sri Lanka, including the semi-finals and final.
