easypaisa marks one year as digital bank, unveils global remittance partnership
easypaisa digital bank processed more than 3.8 billion transactions worth over Rs15 trillion in 2025, marking its first year of digital banking operations with the announcement of a major global remittance partnership.
The milestone was announced at the bank’s annual stakeholder dinner, where easypaisa unveiled a collaboration with Ant International’s WorldFirst platform to expand Pakistan’s cross-border payments and remittance connectivity.
Through the partnership, easypaisa customers will be able to receive payments and remittances from over 100 countries in more than 100 currencies directly into their accounts.
The move expands reach beyond traditional corridors such as the GCC, the UK and the US, and is expected to benefit freelancers, exporters and overseas Pakistanis.
Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications Shaza Fatima Khawaja, the chief guest at the event, congratulated easypaisa on completing its first year as a digital bank. She said promoting the digital economy remains a top government priority, adding that accelerated digitisation is aligning Pakistan’s economy with modern demands.
She noted that record growth in IT exports signals a positive economic outlook and said the government plans to launch 5G services in the country next year.
The event was attended by federal ministers, policymakers, regulators, business leaders and media representatives, highlighting easypaisa’s growing role in expanding access to digital finance nationwide.
Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani said engagement with digital finance practitioners is essential for effective policymaking, stressing the need to demonstrate tangible benefits of a cashless economy.
Board Chairman Irfan Wahab Khan described the milestone as a moment of pride for Pakistan’s financial ecosystem, while Ant International President Douglas Feagin reaffirmed the group’s long-term commitment to building an inclusive digital financial future in Pakistan.
easypaisa said digital transactions now account for an estimated 11 per cent of Pakistan’s GDP.
The platform serves one in five Pakistanis, with women making up 31 percent of its user base, underscoring its role in advancing financial inclusion, digital payments and economic formalisation across the country.
