The Punjab School Education Department has made it mandatory for all male and female teachers in government schools to wear black gowns while on duty starting February 23, 2026.

According to the department, the black gown will promote a professional, uniform, and dignified environment in schools.

Teachers will not conduct classes or educational activities without wearing the gown.

Male teachers are required to wear shalwar kameez or pants with closed shoes or sandals.

Female teachers must wear dignified clothing with closed shoes or sandals.

The department has issued instructions to district chief executive officers and school heads to ensure the dress code is implemented on a daily basis in all government schools.
