K-Electric removes over 120 illegal connections in Gulistan-e-Jauhar crackdown
K-Electric (KE) intensified its crackdown on electricity theft in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area, removing more than 120 illegally hooked connections (kundas) weighing nearly 1,900 kilograms.
The operation focused on high-theft zones around Pink Residency and Rashdi Goth, where an illegal network of cables responsible for the annual loss of nearly 400,000 electricity units, worth over Rs17 million, was dismantled.
Cooperation from law enforcement and relevant authorities helped facilitate the drive, which also covered areas near the airport.
KE spokesperson Imran Rana said, “This kunda removal drive was a focused intervention to protect the integrity of KE’s network and prevent losses from piling up. By removing nearly two tons of illegal wiring and offering pathways for regularisation through facilitation camps, we are not only cutting energy losses but also restoring fairness for paying customers.”
To support enforcement, KE has held multiple customer facilitation camps in the Jauhar area, allowing consumers to clear overdue bills, enter installment plans, and apply for legal meter-based connections.
The crackdown targeted high-loss feeders, a small portion of KE’s wider Jauhar network, where 47 out of 61 feeders remain load-shed free.
K-Electric reiterated its commitment to improving recoveries, reducing electricity theft, and ensuring timely bill payments, measures that directly contribute to minimising load-shedding and enabling a reliable power supply.
