Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Zahoor Soomro, who was injured in a recent Shikarpur police encounter with bandits, and his wife DSP Paras Bhakarani, also wounded in the operation, celebrated their second wedding anniversary by cutting a cake at a private hospital in Sukkur.

Sukkur Mayor Arslan Shaikh arranged the celebration and visited the couple with a cake, joining doctors and hospital staff who gathered for the brief ceremony.

Sindh Home Minister Zia Lanjar also visited the injured officers, praising DSP Paras for her courage.

He said the Shikarpur SSP and police personnel involved in the encounter would be recommended for civil awards.

Last week’s operation against bandits in Shikarpur left nine suspects dead, while four police officials — including the DSP couple — were injured.
