YouTuber’s prank video raises questions over police conduct
A YouTuber’s prank video in Lahore has raised serious questions about the role of uniformed police officers in social media content.
The police officers not only participated in a fake raid with the YouTuber, but also went so far as to slap the youth and make false accusations.
The video of the incident has quickly gone viral on social media.
In the video, Sikandar appears to have called officers from a local checkpoint and asked them to conduct a “raid” on the flat of his brother and friends.
The footage shows uniformed officers, some carrying weapons, entering the flat alongside the YouTuber.
Acting on the YouTuber’s direction, the police officers slapped the youths while creating a drama of arresting them on false charges of gambling.
The officers kept threatening to take the youths to the police station, which left the people present at the scene visibly disturbed.
The YouTuber can be seen recording the entire fake operation while the police officers were fully cooperating.
Reacting strongly, many social media users raised questions about the professional standards and responsibility of the police force.
Many users asked how can officials responsible for public safety can be part of such an irresponsible prank?
No position has been taken by the authorities in this regard.
